Demolition and recycling industry honours Steve Ducker

This year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS) was significant for a number of reasons: it was the first time the summit and the World Demolition Awards had been held in Canada, it was attended by more female leaders and demolition experts from minority backgrounds than ever before, its World Demolition Awards received a record number of entries, it was the first time a senior government minister attended the event, and it was our 15th anniversary.
It was also, however, the last World Demolition Summit and Awards to be organised and hosted by longtime Demolition and Recycling International (D&Ri) editor, Steve Ducker, who has now taken on a new role within the KHL Group - the publisher of D&Ri magazine.
Over the years, Steve, has played a key role in bringing together demolition and recycling contractors from around the world, with the aim of helping to promote their work and the industry as whole by sharing knowledge and encouraging collaboration.
In recognition of his work over the past, almost ten years now, the European Demolition Association (EDA) awarded Steve with a plaque commemorating his “contribution and active participation in the development of the demolition and recycling industry”.
The special award was presented by Stefano Panseri, the President of the EDA, and two of the association’s former presidents, William Sinclair and Francisco Cobo, at the WDS’ welcome drinks reception at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, the night before the main conference.
Receiving his award, Steve said: “It is a huge honour to receive this award from the EDA. As the international media partner of the association, D&Ri magazine and KHL has always worked closely with the EDA and this is also a recognition of that relationship.”
